Featuring global brands like Zara, Next and GAP along with restaurants and cafes – the City Centre Mall makes for an enjoyable shopping excursion! Plus its Vox Cinema makes for a relaxing movie-watching experience while the cafes make for enjoyable days out with family or friends!

Nizwa, a historic city in Oman, is famous for its rich heritage and striking architecture. The iconic Nizwa Fort offers stunning views of the city and surrounding mountains. Nearby, the lively Nizwa Souq is known for traditional Omani crafts like silver jewelry and pottery. Visitors can also experience the local culture at the Friday goat market, where livestock is traded. Nizwa’s mix of history and tradition makes it a must-visit for those seeking authentic Omani experiences.

Close to Nizwa, Bahla Fort, situated beneath Jebel Akhdar highlands and constructed by Banu Nebhan tribe of Omani in 13th century is another must-see. Visitors can stroll its massive walls, admire vernacular houses, and purchase handicraft pottery as they tour this 13th century masterpiece.

The closeby Jebel Akhdar mountains offer hikers an unforgettable hiking experience, featuring official trails winding across its peaks and valleys and more advanced hikers can tackle Via Ferrata routes. In rose season, local farmers harvest thousands of damask roses for use in fragrant rose water production.

Wadi Ghul, Wadi Bani Khalid & Wadi Shab

Oman offers many places that showcase its incredible natural beauty. Wadis are long, narrow ravines that channel water from mountains into desert environments – they act like oasis in the desert! One of our favorites is Wadi Ghul, commonly referred to as the Grand Canyon of Arabia with dramatic 2.5 hour hikes along cliff edges offering views down into tiny mud houses perched along its edges (the abandoned village of As Sab).

Another must-see is Wadi Bani Khalid, which provides nature lovers with another spectacular choice – its emerald pools. One of the easiest wadis to access and its picturesque labyrinth of crystal clear pools nestled into narrow canyons carved out by rock walls makes this wadi even more mesmerizing during rose season (mid-March to mid-April) when thousands of beautiful damask roses bloom!

Wadi Shab is a breathtaking natural gem in Oman, perfect for those seeking adventure and stunning landscapes. Famous for its turquoise pools and towering cliffs, the wadi offers a rewarding hike through lush scenery and narrow canyons. After the trek, visitors can cool off by swimming in the crystal-clear waters or explore the hidden caves at the end of the trail. For an immersive cultural experience, visit close by Sur, Oman’s most picturesque town. Here, you can discover long beaches with no crowds, picturesque fishing villages and dhow boat building yards – plus take a turtle viewing tour at Ras Al Jinz turtle reserve nearby or head further south for rolling sand dunes and camel rides!

Salalah

Salalah is one of Oman’s most striking attractions – and certainly among those favored by nature lovers: Dhofar Province’s green capital. Here, nature abounds as Khareef rains transform desert terrain into verdant gardens and create seasonal waterfalls – adding even further beauty and wonders to this area. Must-visits here include attractions like the Frankincense Land Museum, Qaboos Palace and Haffa souq.

Salalah is an idyllic destination in Oman for nature enthusiasts, boasting stunning natural landscapes and cultural traditions that blend seamlessly. Renowned for its fragrant frankincense and traditional Omani handicrafts – available to buy at Haffa Souq -, Salalah also makes an excellent destination for snorkeling and diving enthusiasts with clear beaches offering ideal conditions.

Sumhuram

Sumhuram is an ideal place to learn about Oman’s rich history. One of its oldest port cities, it features archaeological and architectural remnants dating back to Paleolithic, Neolithic, Bronze and Iron Ages – not forgetting it being Dhofar’s largest city and situated along Khor Rori Creek!

This UNESCO World Heritage Site features the remains of an ancient town dating back to 4th century BC, overlooking a lagoon and once being an epicenter for frankincense trade. Now the ruins have been meticulously excavated into an archeological park where visitors can witness archaeologists at work.

The remains of this ancient city are spread out over an expansive area and have been extensively restored, offering visitors views of fortification walls, buildings and gates that once served residents within its boundaries, as well as storerooms for frankincense. Excavation work is still ongoing.

Oman offers a rich blend of natural beauty, history, and culture, making it a must-visit for any traveler. From Nizwa’s historic forts to the scenic landscapes of Wadi Shab, each destination offers a unique experience.
